Trey Dowdy is Dovetail’s chief financial and compliance officer. He oversees the firm’s financial operations and compliance program.
He also helps maintain the internal processes that support Dovetail’s planning and client-service teams.
What Does Trey’s Work Support?
Trey monitors the firm’s financial health and maintains compliance processes for a Registered Investment Adviser.
As operational requirements change, he helps the team understand what needs attention. This work helps Dovetail respond to its operational and compliance responsibilities.
How Did Trey Build His Experience?
Trey earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Florida State University. He first worked with Ross Marino as an intern at Raymond James in 1994.
He later began his professional career as an investment advisor at T. Rowe Price. Trey subsequently earned an MBA from the University of North Carolina Wilmington.
His professional credentials include the Project Management Professional (PMP®) and Investment Advisor Certified Compliance Professional (IACCP®) designations.
Before joining Dovetail, Trey helped build Advisor2X. The company has hosted more than 1,000 educational events for financial advisors.
That experience strengthened his interest in process design, professional education, and the operational work behind an advisory firm.
What Does Trey Enjoy Outside of Work?
Trey enjoys working out, playing pickleball, and collecting vinyl records. He is also learning to play guitar.
He mentors students at UNCW’s Cameron School of Business and serves through his local church.
Trey has visited all 30 Major League Baseball stadiums, despite not particularly liking baseball.
